How Indians perceive GM foods?

I have been visiting this site very interesting, titled "Conversations Plant Biotechnology, "http://www.monsanto.com/biotech-gmo/asp/farmers.asp?cname=India&id=EknathPandit. There is this guy telling how Indian has benefited from GM foods. I live in the U.S., where Americans eat genetically modified food freely. I must admit that it is very exciting to see someone from a Third World country, acknowledge that GM crops can be beneficial to farmers. I wonder how Indians and anyone else you feel about genetically modified food.

I must mention here Norman Borlaug. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1970. Read about it via this link. I suspect that many people in India, Pakistan, Mexico, etc are very pleased with his dwarf wheat. There Doubltess elite "green" feel people should be hungry rather than let the roads and progress, hungry people are fed and millions or thousands of millions who have died of hunger are living now. Now for the consequences that may arise and do not let people starve because we dislike the idea genetic engineering of food. Borlaug is a great man who belongs to the most basic books on world history. Is the average Indian today Borlaug or know about of their contributions? Do not know.
