Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization-Fish processing in India, Low Cost
Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization
Fluorescent in situ hybridization was initially developed in the 1980s of radioactive hybridization procedures used for human gene mapping. Finally, this technology was used to characterize the chromosomal rearrangements and marker chromosomes, the detection of microdeletions, and the diagnosis Prenatal common aneuploidies in clinical cytogenetics laboratories. Today, numerous DNA probes have been commercialized, further promoting the wide spread clinical applications of molecular cytogenetics.
With current FISH techniques, removing or changing a single gene can be detected, cryptic chromosomal translocations can be visualized, the number of copies of amplified oncogenes in tumor cells can be assessed, and complex rearrangements can be fully characterized.
Using interphase FISH, genomic alterations can be studied in almost all types of human tissue in any phase of cell division without the need for cell culture and preparation of chromosomes.
Fluorescent in situ hybridization can be used to detect and quantify specific microorganisms while maintaining their morphological integrity, removal of nucleic acids. Cells in the sample is fixed with chemicals to increase its permeability and allow the probe to enter the cells. Fixatives fall into two general categories: 1) precipitating factors such as ethanol or methanol and 2) cross-linking as aldehydes (eg paraformaldehyde). After fixation of the sample was in the wells of Teflon-covered slides, which were coated with gelatin in order to assist the insertion of cells …
